Guru bead is a carved pit bead with cub Monkey King, the most powerful worrier from ‘Journey to the West’ a Chinese novel published in the 16th century during the Ming dynasty. Monkey King is fearless, powerful, loyal and invincible. The praying hands blessing gesture shows his willingness and commitment to learn from this very first teacher, the Taoist master 菩提祖师（Puti Zushi).
