Vintage bamboo root carving of golden toad.

Hand held toy（手把件 ）- a piece of art (usually carved object made by stone, wood or metal) that you can hold in hand and play with it. In traditional Chinese folk art, scholars like to collect small art object (similar to netsuke) as collectable to place on their “working station” (a place where they write poem, drawing ink painting or practice their Chinese calligraphy). Its a way to show their taste of art; getting inspiration of creativity since these creative arrangement since each item is unique. Small objects in group can form very unique scenes and therefore bring creativity into thought process. Just like a baby like go grab toys, it is human nature to touch, feel and look at things in nature and have sentimental connection to it.

Meditation use of hand held toy- try holding this item in your hand when thinking about something, solving a problem or perhaps if you just want to get blood circulated in your hand. As time passes, the surface of this item will have a deep brown + reddish color and smooth glowing surface (the antique look). Very lovely.
